Washing dishes makes us healthy

Each of us has 24 hours a day to live—no matter what you earn or how you live—but the way you think is also very important and so you must spend most of that time to your advantage and in search of happiness. If you develop a stable emotional and relaxed state, your chances of living longer increase and most diseases stay away from you.

German researchers recently concluded that patients suffering from heart conditions and being depressed have a greater chance of heart failure. There are studies that show a link between a high ratio of people suffering from stress and depression to heart disease and stroke.

Some countries are developing campaigns with this trend called Workplace Health Promotion, or in other words, “taking breaks,” and these are some of the recommendations:

1 Body: shoulders away from your ears

2 Breathing: exhale at full lung capacity

3 Mind: practice choosing a positive mindset

These three elements combined allow a pause for serenity.

Other recommendations—and this is one of our favorites— is from Vietnamese master Thich Nhat Hanh, who has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Washing the dishes. He proposes to turn any daily activity into a meditation practice. It is about deep breathing, being aware of your presence, and aware of your thoughts and actions.

This experience can be repeated when doing

  • Yoga, doing each exercise and bringing an awareness of what happens to every muscle and fiber of your body and combining it with a deep breath.
  • Massaging the neck, head, and feet, and breathing deeply, it’s better with some lotion or fragrance, while listening to a nice tune.
  • Write enjoyable experiences that have happened, details that at the end of the day are what create the big stage of happiness.
  • Dancing is one of the best ways to disconnect from work and problems. We generate a renewed vitality and joy of life.

To fight stress and depression is a difficult but not impossible task. The daily routine is a major cause of both diseases. We need to shake up our lives, starting with simple things such as taking lunch in the nearest park, removing our shoes and walking or lying on the grass, and watching the skyline for a few minutes.

No more stress or depression; make a pause and break with the stress and depression living your life fully.
