When we see lines appear on our nails, or when they become brittle, it’s common for us to believe we have a fungus. But, the truth is, it’s not that simple. Our nails are part of our body’s alarm system, and through them, our bodies sends us messages when we’re ill or when something in our bodies has changed.

We should remain alert when we see changes in our nails, and should go to the doctor so the he/she can examine them. They should know how to “read your nails” and identify any illness you might have or any changes going on in your body.

  • White dots or white sides on your nails are the product of an aggressive manicure or powerful detergent. It can also be a zinc or calcium deficiency.
  • Causes: When we use ointments or glues on the base (cuticles) of the nail this can cause a permanent deformation.
  • Friction on the cuticle of the nails can cause for them to grow flattened, instead of having their normal curvature.

Washing dishes makes us healthy

Each of us has 24 hours a day to live—no matter what you earn or how you live—but the way you think is also very important and so you must spend most of that time to your advantage and in search of happiness. If you develop a stable emotional and relaxed state, your chances of living longer increase and most diseases stay away from you.

German researchers recently concluded that patients suffering from heart conditions and being depressed have a greater chance of heart failure. There are studies that show a link between a high ratio of people suffering from stress and depression to heart disease and stroke.

Laughter is contagious

  • Laughter boosts the immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.

  • Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.

  • Laughter protects the heart. Laughter improves the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow, which can help protect you against a heart attack and other cardiovascular problems.

Robert McGrath, a psychologist at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, recommends 30 minutes of daily exercise and 15 minutes of humor, thus achieving a balance between emotional and physical health.
